Re: Voltage fluctuation and error codes

Hey guys it turns out it was not the steering but the chassis which had bent due to debris on road causing a bolt to bend which in turn led to the grinding noise. The ASC straightened the chassis and changed the bolt. Voila problemo solved :D

Re: Voltage fluctuation and error codes

what about during the steering assembly repair? There are a MASSIVE amount of wires run through the steering column. What are the odds something went wonky during that repair? I had problems with my previous service station and the car has improved after the new service station took over. The ASC m...

Re: Voltage fluctuation and error codes

What's the full history of the vehicle- as far as what has been replaced and faults? It might be unrelated, but as I mentioned earlier voltage spikes/ fluctuations aren't good for electronics. If you can notice it from the lights/ horn varying then they must be massive. PS: Is it possible the rat h...

Re: Voltage fluctuation and error codes

Hey guys an update Well the voltage fluctuation was also because of a wire that had rusted from the inside due to poor insulation. According to the authorised service center they changed the wiring to solve the problem. When they came home to deliver the car to me I took a test drive. The fluctuatio...

Re: Voltage fluctuation and error codes

Oh, it was a wire inside the cabin area? I figured it must have been in the engine bay somewhere. I wonder where your friendly rat is residing now? :( You are correct it is inside the engine bay. I had seen the rat run from the back to inside the dash from under. Ya i hope he comes out alive so tha...

Re: Voltage fluctuation and error codes

Interesting. I doubt it would have left the factory like that. Didn't you mention earlier it happened after they replaced your horn? I suspect that it might be a rat that has chewed the wire. I had seen a rat inside but i thought i was seeing things. Looks like it was a rat after all. But that mean...

Re: Voltage fluctuation and error codes

*UPDATE* The service center has halted the order of the alternator as they found a wire which was damaged and shredded. They replaced the wiring and now it seems that the fluctuation has stopped have to go and check it myself to believe it. They say it is the wire that connects the battery and the ...

Re: Voltage fluctuation and error codes

The service center has ordered the alternator under warranty after checking the earthing and the battery. My power window motor also failed so it is also being changed under warranty. Can there be a connection between their failure?

Re: Voltage fluctuation and error codes

I added some more info to my original reply. A battery can measure a high voltage (eg. the 14.3V you mentioned) when the engine is first switched off. It's called a "surface charge" and doesn't give a true indication of the battery's health. The first rule with fault finding electronic pr...

Re: Voltage fluctuation and error codes

If your voltage is <13 V or so, you are not charging the battery because there is not sufficient voltage to overcome the internal resistance of the battery. The voltage goes below 14 only on cranking and idle but the service station says that during cranking 10 and above is good. The battery doesn'...
