Well I am over 11,000 miles now. I am getting on average 18-20mpg AWD on or off. The thing that pisses me off is my sister in law bought a new Jeep Cherokee Laredo (pretty sweet) and she is getting 19 mpg, REALLY? REALLY? LOL I am just going to stop checking my freaking mileage and shut up...

That should be my last negative mpg rant, I think? :?
If it's any consolation, you're not alone. I get around 11L/100km (~21 mpg) when I'm trying to drive conservatively. This winter most of my fill-ups pointed to 12-13L/100km (18-19 mpg).

Most of my trips are 10km long, twice a day. The evening ones are initiated from the train station, after the car's been outside for the day. With temperatures below -10C (most days this winter), that means the engine's barely running in optimal parameters before I get home.

I expect the summer fuel consumption figures to hit better values, but I doubt I'll see anything spectacular.

AWD on all the time, @15,000 km.

5000 mile report:

Just filled up and checked mpg from pump values (same station, same pump): 26.07mpg on Shell 87 octane, rural driving back and forth to work, no highway at all, averaging speeds anywhere between 35-60 mph. Dash-O-Meter reported between 27.5-29.1 mpg, most often in the 28.4-29 range during this tank. Car is 3000 miles into first Mobil 1 5W-30 oil change.

Your right foot and speed has everything to do with fuel efficiency in these cars. I was careful about not pressing hard on the accelerator from dead stops. Last two days, the AWD has been on full time and I've noticed no difference at all on the dash-o-meter reporting.

EDIT: forgot to mention, I reset the 'average mpg' display every tank fill.

I noticed that when I fill up the range on the trip computer always resets to 550km. Is this an indication that Suzuki expect the true fuel consumption to be in the 10L/100km range?

I seem to be getting between 9.5 - 10L/100km indicated, pretty poor for a car that's claimed to have "best in class" fuel consumption!

I think the range it shows after your fill up is just your current mileage times how many gallons you have in the tank.

Don't think so, right from day one the range has always shown exactly 550km after fill-up.

After putting on 7800 Miles in 3 months on to my MT GTS, I am averaging around 32 MPG highway and 28-29MPG on my daily commute to and fro from work.
Initially the car used to show 360 Miles to Empty when I filled her up but these days it shows me 390. I am not sure how they calculate it but it stays to about 390 for about 60 miles before it starts changing. That said, my daily commute of 45 miles is up and down an Interstate with rush hour traffic 60% of time.
The best that I have gotten off the car is 36MPG driving in highway at steady cruise control speed. The dash-o-meter was showing me 38.2 at that time and out of disbelief I filled her up after driving for 220 miles. It was amazing but sadly one time occurrence. However I did take a picture of it :-) before filling her up.

Your Kizashi is a freak of nature...mine is barely getting 23MPG right now with a mix of highway and city driving.

Wow, that is impresive!

Just curious, how often do you get the engine over 3k rpm? How about 5k rpm?

Thx.

Not much. My shift points are about at 3k n only while merging or occassional spirited drive do i take it above 5k.
All in all i am a very conservative driver, however i enjoy my time in backroads, i love heel n toe shifting while in back roads but nevertheless my primary display in my das-o-meter is always either mpg or instantaneoud mpg. Also, on bad weeks where i have been in stop n go more than once i have averaged 25-26 mpg, which is still better than my last car.
