The average person doesn't like to not have full brake performance from the first stop - which is what you will generally sacrifice with a more heat tolerant pad.
Took a series of S turns on the way to pick up the wife the fastest I have ever taken them this week. Only when I started to brake at the end of the second turn was there any settling, and I felt that in the suspension, not the Potenzas. I reminded me of a ride with a buddy of mind when he had his STI outfitted with Potenza race tires. I could definitely feel the awd grip.
Took the same turns today in the rain. I didn't push it as hard as the guardrail shows a lot of people have bit it at the start of the second turn, but they did stick better than I expected as I felt absolutely zero difference than driving the the dry.
So a couple of months of driving mainly city have started to dull the great rain performance. I think it's because of the two straight inner ribs combined with the Kizashi's camber settings, causing the outside of the tire which seems to be the main rain tread to not have optimal contact. I've felt the car feel 'light' during periods of heavy rain, almost like it was hydroplaning or could lose control. Not too comfortable, but I think it's the tire on the Kizashi vs the tire itself that's the issue.
I put Pirelli Cinturato P7 all seasons on mine, a GTS awd. Maybe a small drop in handling but should last longer than the 27K dunlops that came on it. Live in Delaware, seems fine in rain, no snow yet. Tire has a good look and might have improved gas mpg just slightly. Paid $850 with alignment
I ordered a set of BFGoodrich G-Force Sport Comp 2 tires this week. I've read good reviews and the price was right. We'll see how they fare compared to the subpar OEM Dunlops. I got 26k miles out of those but some recent scary moments hydroplaning made me grab a new set.
$600 through Sam's Club, including mounting/balancing. Price also includes a current $70 BFG instant rebate deal they have going on.

I considered these. I remember a time when the g-force series was setting new standards for grip and they were even more sticky than drag radials on the street.
I've discovered that the re760s have a floaty feeling handling with only 30-31 psi in them.
I replaced the factory Dunlops (awful tires...good handling maybe but rough riding and LOUSY in snow) with a set of Continental DWS and liked them a lot. Reasonably quiet and VERY good in the snow. I got 40,000 miles out of them but the last 10,000 miles the tires got VERY loud...didn't wear evenly either but that may have something to do with the alignment on the car (car was realigned early on and I haven't touched it since).
I put a set of Continental Pure Contacts on last fall. They are indeed quiet and smooth...seem to live up to the great ratings on Tire Rack except I don't find them to be "superior" in the snow...they're OK but I expected better based on the ratings (I'm an old guy and don't care about ultimate handling...yet I don't want a "squishy" tire on this car as its handling is its forte...just not willing to get beat up so I can take a corner a few mph faster...but that's me).
When the snow flies it's all about the tires. Awd will get you going and keep you from getting stuck...even with worn tires but doesn't do much for cornering and braking. I have dedicated winter tires on my minivan. It's a bear in the snow and I notice the difference when I drive the Kizashi...it just doesn't turn or stop as well due to the "compromise" tires. My solution is to not drive the Kizahi anymore than necessary in the winter to avoid having to buy an extra set of tires. When I do drive it it does OK...but would be better with winter tires no question.
Thank you for the feedback on the Continentals. I think you're one of the few people who have had both the DWS and the Pure Contacts.
Snow tires are a HUGE improvement on the Kizashi. We went from being scared to actually not letting the weather bother us. Now, the other drivers...we worry...we really worry...
