High pitch squealing sound?

My 'love-is-pain' relationship with my Kizashi has been tested once again this week  I'm stuck for an answer on this so any tips?

The other day leaving work I was in second at about 30km/h coasting through the long straight of the car park when I went over a bit of an uneven join in the concrete and suddenly a sort of quiet screeching noised started coming from the front right wheel. I wasn't braking or anything and the noise didn't change at all when I did break. After about 20 seconds it stopped. Since then it has done it every time the car is cold for about 2 minutes at low speeds and only when coasting but on Saturday it seems to have gone to another level. It now gets really loud over 100km/h, starts at about 30km/h, doesn't matter if i'm coasting, accelerating, braking anything. It's extremely embarrassing to drive around people now. It seems to stop if I turn a left corner at high speed or when the car drops back below 30km/h.

Any hints anyone? The main thought in my head is brakes - a stone or some dust somewhere? I havn't pulled them apart to check (and plan on avoiding it) but my discs dont have any abnormal wear developing and its done about 500km's like it now. I'd record the sound but you can only hear it with the windows down and by then theres too much wind to record it well.

It's possible that you have a slightly stuck caliper and your pads are worn enough to have the indicators making noise. Just a guess, though.

Thats sort of along the lines of whats in my head. Its done 36,000km's with a fair bit of CBD driving but I asked how they were looking in my previous service and they said they looked very good so im a bit iffy.

I should also note my front right strut along with the sway bar link and both sway bar bushes was recently replaced. Not sure if that could be related at all but I'm stuck thinking brakes. I'll check the pads again tomorrow morning.

Pads look pretty good, shouldnt be the problem yet. Its back to only happening while coasting today

Given Suzuki recently had that area apart it, might be worthwhile getting it into them? Not wanting to sound pessimistic- but they might have forgotten to do something up?

Had my car booked in today but cancelled it, I pulled off the wheel on monday and noticed a) the dust guard behind the back of the disc at one point was only about 1mm or less off the actual disc compared to about 4mm when looking at the left hand wheel... I assuming someone at Suzuki banged it when they were fixing the strut and it went a bit crooked and I'm guessing touched the disk occasionally.

B) There was a bit of muddy looking stuff (most likely mud :P ) behind there aswell so I gave it a clean as best as I could with a high pressure hose. The noise stopped for the rest of Monday, all of Tuesday, and most of today only coming back very very softly for about 20 seconds on my drive home just before I parked. Any ideas where the last little bit of noise is coming from anyone? There doesnt appear to be anything else behind that guard

Do you hear anything when you spin the wheel when it's on a lift? If you hear only the pads rubbing slightly on the rotors, you may want to remove them and spin again to see if that's masking the real noise.

Turns out it was brakes. New pads+machined discs - $211. They told me Suzuki dont supply/prefer a specific brake pad and id have to get third party pads. I find that a bit wierd as theres a part number listed for pads but whatever. They told me 2000kms until I can drive enthusiastically on them again, at the moment it feels like stopping a bus :| anyway thanks for the feedback guys, I now know a new noise that brakes can make

What sort of pads did you get? They should really be bedded in too- which the dealer probably hasn't done (especially if they said something like 2000km !?!)

Im not sure which is annoying  I was in a meeting when they called to quote it for me so I rushed through the process and expected it to be listed on the invoice but its just listed as 'aftermarket parts'. Im sure they arent bedded in so im just trying to tie it into daily driving. I did 200ks this afternoon and they feel much better already.
