Yikes.
What's the warranty situation in Australia or wherever you are?
American Suzukis are covered for 36,000 miles/3 years for bumper to bumper and 100,000 miles/7 years for powertrain components.
If your car was in the US, the repair should be covered by Suzuki.

Hi Kuronekko,

Australian consumers are afforded less rights than their US counterparts.

Suzuki Australia only offers a 3 year/100,000km warranty on their vehicles. Some were lucky enough to have this extended to five years during Suzuki's promotion campaigns. Of course, my car is out of warranty.

When you have time, it may be beneficial for you to pull off the plastic cover above your pedal set to check whether there are stress cracks on the aluminium strap as illustrated in my previous post. The plastic cover is held on by two screws and plastic clips. You need to apply a bit of force to pull it off.

I wasn't actually given a cost for the repair as it was all under warranty! Invoices for $0. I believe under the new(ish) consumer laws if it's a known problem they're obligated to repair it free of charge with or without warranty though.

Odd that the bulletin red was for the tensioner :S I never found any info with all of my searching.

As an update to the OP my clutch has been fine ever since he repair.

Hi, Wonson92.

You're really lucky that you had it covered under warranty! I wonder if the same part broke on your car?

Hm not too sure, I can only assume so. I'd be checking out the part numbers. From memory it looks like what I found for the part number online haha

Is it possible to wedge something under the clutch box to help support it?

Hi all,

an old post i know, but seems that this is still a re occurring issue as Suzuki still have not fixed this part, just to add my 5 cents in

We bought a 2010 Kizashi about 6 months ago from a dealer everything was going great until a week ago when changing gears became extremely difficult and sometimes impossible, so we took it to a few mechanics who diagnosed the problem as the clutch and slave cylinder. After about the 5th opinion and $50 to Suzuki they quickly diagnosed the problem as a cracked pedal box and it's going to cost $700 to fix, which is a lot better then replacing the clutch and the slave cylinder. When searching the net we realised that this is a common issue and wondering if Suzuki can or is doing anything to rectify this part.
the car has only done 97,000km so not much at all.

Thanks

Which country are you in? It matters because warranties are different from country to country. However, despite the low mileage, your car is a Model Year 2010 so I think it's out of warranty by age. Also, I have a theory that this cracked clutch pedal box is an issue with Right Hand Drive models.

Hi KuroNekko,

Thanks for your fast reply we're in Australia and yes the car is out of warranty, but Suzuki should be able to do something at least? The car is also right hand drive could be that your theory is correct? I wonder if Suzuki will actually do anything now, my wife and child were in the car at the time and almost had an accident due to the fact that we couldn't get the car into gear and we was stuck in the middle of an intersection, it was a bit scary just don't want this to happen to anybody else or worse kill someone.
