What is it?

I found a top half of a relatively large bolt under my Kizashi. It was laying on the garage floor just under the left front of the grill on the bumper. As nothing is ever parked there or could have come from something else, it has to be something from the car (I would think). I did glance under the car but nothing is obvious. As I do not have jack stands, and I am really getting a bit old to crawl around on the floor I am wondering if anyone would have any idea of what this goes too? By the way nothing, noted in driving of the car, ie. rattling like something is loose has been noticed.

Is that yellow from the bolt or something that rubbed the bolt?

It appears to be rust. In fact on the floor around where I found the bolt head it was orange also.

Ok, I did find out where the head of that bolt came from. Not a very good picture, but maybe someone can tell me whether the engine is gonna fall out or something

. There is a corresponding bolt (no rust) on passenger side of car.

I was going to say that looks just like the rear subframe bolt I've dealt with before to install the RRM rear sway bear. Your picture looks to be the front subframe. These bolts are huge for a reason and are very important. I'd take it in to get it replaced. They'll likely have to drill out the old broken bolt threads and install a brand new bolt.

Thanks Kuro.... A bolt that size having the head come off, kinda scares me. Appointment with the dealer is Thursday....

Hard to tell where that is from your picture but it looks like the front-most subframe bolt? What size is the bolt?
Subframe bolts rusting off is quite a scary thought.

What it is, I will find out on Thursday, but the head of that bolt sure looks to me as being heavy duty. Measuring the size of the threads at the bottom of the head of the bolt, it is appx. 1/2 inch in diameter.. Will be taking it real easy till this has been repaired.

If you lost a sub-frame bolt that's crazy. (very bad)
Have you ever had your car repaired form an accident?
The fact that it looks like it cracked and corroded off is very concerning. Everyone should look at theirs the next time they change their oil.
If it is common it needs to be a recall.
I have a feeling that thing must have been over torqued from the factory if you never got your car repaired.
