Crankshaft position

Hey guys,
I haven't checked the CEl yet however last time my CEL came on was due to the battery died and after being jumped said that the crank shaft position sensor was bad. I reset the computer and drove it and it never came back on. Now I'm on a trip and my CEL came on the next morning when I started it (it wasn't on the day before at all just came on as soon as i started the car next day).

Now if it ends up being scanned and found to be this, the strange part is I have not noticed any difference in the performance of my car. I read that if the sensor is bad it could result in poor acceleration or unregular, Which my vehicle since i got it in July has had it where during acceleration when it reaches around 20-30mph it seems to drop down a little and get a little louder which I think I read somewhere that it was normal because of the programming of the CVT to prevent overheating, please correct me if I'm wrong?

rough idle which I don't think it idles rough....does anyone know what rough idle would be for this car? In park it idles around 500 rpms.

My question is....anyone know the location of the sensor I tried to look for it but here's a few sensors in the area I think it is which I believe is usually by the pulleys. All help is appreciated, thanks!

Okay guys so I got the car scanned and luckily it came out to be an emissions issue which is better to me so I don't have to cut my vacation short. It reported (i don't remember the code number) EVAP small leak. The guy said probably gas cap (was a guy at a store like auto zone) anyone think it could be something else? I recently filled up with gas after getting it scanned and the CEL is still on.

Could be the gas cap was not on tight. It will take a few days to clear the error message.

Is it possible for the gas cap to cause a leak days after because I filled my tank on the 23rd and drove up to toronto for Christmas vacation. Then the morning of the 26th it was on as soon as I turned the car on. I filled up again after getting it scanned on the 27th. So I guess I'm just curious as to could the gas cap of caused a leak 3 days after the initial fill up or gone bad? Could the gasket of the cap be ruined already the car has 52,000 miles on it

In my experience with other cars, once a CEL is triggered, it usually doesn't reset until after a predetermined number of restarts with the condition gone. I suspect you've exceeded that by now. Gas caps can go bad. Absent any other symptoms, replacing a gas cap would probably be the easiest thing to do.
