Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing a problem with the automatic climate control in my Suzuki Kizashi and could use some advice on troubleshooting and repairing the issue.

I recently had my car in the shop for an air conditioning check. The system was drained, vacuumed, and refilled with the correct amount of refrigerant (around 500 grams—there were about 300 grams left in it before). Unfortunately, the system still isn’t cooling properly.

The workshop checked the error codes and found an issue with the solar sensor showing low voltage, which they suspected might be the cause. However, I’ve read that this is completely normal when the temperature is set to "low," as the sensor isn’t activated in that mode.

The mechanic also mentioned that the system seemed to cool for a short period, but I haven't noticed this myself. I’ve already replaced the relay just in case, but it didn’t help.

What would be the best approach to identifying and fixing the issue? Any tips or guidance on where to start?

Thanks in advance!

The most common problem that I see with the air conditioning is a failed magnetic clutch winding. This part is available aftermarket separately and I have them in stock but if this is it, you’ll see that your fans are running but your AC clutch did not engage on the front of the compresso., The relay can be jumped over easily by connecting the two copper colored terminals at the fuse box after pulling the relay. If your magnetic clutch is engaging and your air just doesn’t seem that cool then I have had troubles at the expansion valve that’s right at the firewall. The only time I see problems with this is if there’s additives such as stop leak in the system..
