I am a happy owner of a Kizashi Sport 2011, my name is Michael and my username is Tuerca (nut). I'm from Ecuador but I live in Santiago de Chile. I would like to ask how I can increase the power, tork. I have'nt practice my english, so i apologize for my mistakes, but I wnat to say that when I accelerate from zero, the car does not has sufficient power, when he begin to run is a bullit, but not at the begenning. I would like to modify the chip program, the software; can I do it?
Please tell me wh at do you think

Please see my post in the "Performance" section where I discuss installing Road Race Motorsports (RRM) Short Ram Intake (SRI) and the RRM Piggyback ECU. I think these products might be exactly what you're looking for.

The mods recommended might help very marginally, but only ate the higher end. The lag at start up is due to an unfortunate choice of CVT transmission setup by Suzuki, whereby the lowest effective gear ratio is close to the 2nd gear in the manual transmission, so it is like starting in 2nd gear, really slow until you get up to at least 15-20mph.

Unfortunately - it is the mechanical nature of the beast - so nothing will help it. I checked out the webpage of the CVT manufacturer, and they had another version that had extra gearing to fix this in some transmissions, but we did not get this in the Kizashi. This is their biggest miss in being considered a real performance coupe (the manual thans is a different animal, but no AWD unfortunately).

I though they might have rectified it in the 2011's, but they did not.

I respectfully disagree. Since installing the Piggyback ECU I do not have the initial lag that I had prior to installing it. I won't argue that the gear ratio should have been improved for 2011 models, but unfortunately it comes down to picking the manual transmission with just front wheel drive or gaining the handling benefits from the I-AWD but having the CVT gear ratios.

Personally, now that I have the Piggyback ECU installed, I'm glad to have the convenience of the CVT with paddle shifters/auto stick, but also to have the added handlingof the I-AWD. So really, to each their own. Bottom line is, it's hard to argue against what the Kizashi offers at such a comparatively low price.

I think you are the only one who has stated that the ECU "fixed" that issue. I would like to ask others if they have seen the same results, as without testing actual acceleration times on a track, this can be very subjective.

That lag is the primary reason for the big difference in 1/4 mile times from the manual equipped car (only 5 more hp), as the CVT locks into the highest HP RPM (after finally getting up to it after the lag) and holds that point as the CVT does its thing. So a 1/4 mile or an accurate 0-60 time for the ECU CVT would be very helpful.

I would welcome a fix for this issue (although RRM seems to have really boosted the price on this since it was released), as I had a similar CVT (same manufacturer) in a different vehicle, and there was no lag. I have held off doing any of the RRM mods, as I was never able to get any meaningful info from them on their actual performance.

I definitely appreciate your skepticism and agree that a video'd 0-60 time would be the best way to prove the Piggyback ECU's performance. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to drive for 6 weeks due to my back surgery.

However, after I heal up enough, maybe I can find a good location to test it (needs to be relatively flat and free of law enforcement) and figure out how to mount my phone to my dash (i don't own a video camera, so my phone's video camera will have to do). If I'm able to pull that off I'll post a vid of it.

In the mean time, if someone else already has this mod installed and could video their 0-60 time, that would be great. Anybody interested?

I find it very odd RRM have not released anyREAL numbers on this. A $399 piggy back with no real data to back it up is hard to bite on.
