What Did You Do With Your Kizashi Today?
If we had a manual that would work really well with the red calipers and tasteful red pinstripe the previous owner put on the car.
My manual shift knob's silver part flaked off after a while which caused it to have a sharp edge and cut into my skin. I then took the knob off and replaced it with an aftermarket Razo knob I found in Japan. It's round which is the shape I prefer for a shift knob. I've had it for a few years now and it's still like new given the exterior is made of textured resin. On a related note, I recently went into a Pep Boys and saw that they sold JDM Razo accessories like shift knobs and pedal covers.
As for fitting a suitable replacement knob, you have to make sure it will seat nicely on the threads of the shift bar while taking into account that the lock-out collar for reverse needs space to move up and down. This means some replacement knobs may not tighten down perfectly before obstructing the movement of the lock-out collar. Once I found the perfect position for the Razo knob, I used Gorilla glue to make sure it stayed in place. It hasn't given me any issues since.
I'll post a picture of the Razo shift knob soon given I just realized I've never posted a picture of it in my Kizashi despite using it for years now.

Here's my Razo shift knob I installed a few years ago. It's held up excellently and looks exactly the same as when it was new. I like the round shape and the fine knurling texture that offers good grip. I'm also glad it's made of resin instead of metal. I had an aluminum shift knob in my former Mazda3 (after I replaced the worn-out original) and that got damn hot when parked in the sun!
Aftermarket knobs also come in various weights to aid in throw depending on driving style. For my Razo, I chose the 240g weight which was very similar to the original shift knob. While the style is different from the Kizashi's interior, I thought it didn't clash too much with the cloth seats in color and pattern.

Very nice! I really like the carbon fibre look.

Nice long drive in the Kizashi over the last week!
Went from Glasgow to the Isle of Lewis in the dead of the night, quick stop over there then back to mainland Scotland for a drive from Ullapool to Oban via Loch Ness to see Nessie the Monster obviously.
Back at work no with another week to go & my poor Kizzy is is desperate need of a wash!

Sounds like a nice little drive. How long were you out and about?
Was over a 5 day period! Stayed with my mum for a few days which was nice, been a few months since I was home last to see them all!SamirD wrote:Sounds like a nice little drive. How long were you out and about?
Put some more details about my trip here - Craig's Kizashi!

Yesterday i switched from winter- to summerwheels. Today i handwashed the car and tryed to wax the car with Surf City Garage Barrier Reef Paste Wax. It was ok but i am not really convinced about price vs result.

Nice. The wife was mentioning changing off of the snow tires and I'm reminded of the time we had 1" fall in April in MKE and there were 20 car pileups. They stay on until May.Tom Kizzie wrote:Yesterday i switched from winter- to summerwheels. Today is handwashed the car and tryed to wax the car with Surf City Garage Barrier Reef Paste Wax.
