I'm not sure, but I think there is indeed less of a direct steering interference issue with bumps on the 16" and cushier snow tires. This does not bother me much with the 18" Dunlops however. What I think is more of a potential issue is that the steering feel is less responsive with the 16"; going in a straight line on flat pavement requires a bit more effort/correction.
