Chipped paint on Kizashi & SX4 Models

I have recently noticed in the past year Kizashi models production dates 2011-2012 in Red colour only chipping excessively over the front bonett and front quarter panels. If you have a red Kizashi or SX4 and have noticed chipping which is out of the ordinary you can take it back to your Suzuki Dealer and have them rectify the paint under "Good Will". Suzuki will not excapt liablity, but this is a global issue and a big concern for the Suzuki Comany. So Kizashi owners if you are still in warranty you have a better chance to have this issue sorted quickly. Trust me on this!
If you have this paint issue and want to make a claim do so with out delay and make sure also you present a clean car when taking it in.

Thank you for the research and heads up!

Why do you think it's only affecting Red? I know some of the other colors have some chipping issues as well.

I have seen only Red models affected but havent seen any other coloured models in australia.
I have measured the paint thickness of these affected Kizashi and SX4 models and have found the factory has only applied a thin coat of paint to its surface causing insuffcient bonding to surface when required, therefore, the paint chips off easy. This is definately a factory fault. According to Suzuki Tech the paint is thin for easy deflection of material from roads. I have proven this is not the case. All other Suzuki models and other colours have strong thickness of coating on them with better resistance. I own a 2013 white Kizashi Sport. I love it. It seems Suzuki have improved on its production quality in 12 months, so thats a good thing.

Do you have an estimate for about how long it takes for the paint to start chipping off?

Hi, welcome.

Could you please update your location in your profile - that will help people who read your first post. (I was assuming you were in the USA when I read it.)

Given your Kizashi is white, how do you know Suzuki Australia will take action on any complaints about red Kizashi's? :?:

I have seen it chip off from about 3 months of driving to 12 months.

I thought you might.

Have you ever heard anything about the "hard start" issue? Suzuki USA have acknowledged the problem and issued an ECU update, but Suzuki Aus seems to know nothing? (I've had it happen twice.)

We have been lucky down here. Hard start for us is no real issue. There has only been 1 recall on certain Kizashi models which are Vin specific and that was to adjust the torque converter screws. Kizashi sold from October 2013 onwards were not effected.
If i hear of anything from Suzuki Tech about hard start I will do a post out.

from memory red did have the most trouble. This issue hasn't come up for awhile.
