Just got a letter from Suzuki inviting me to participate in a special engineering test program.
"Vehicles chosen to be used in the program will be emission tested for Suzuki engineers to evaluate. The purpose of this program is to evaluate how well the emission system is functioning after a certain period of driving usage. Your vehicle will be tested indoors on a dynamometer (treadmill-like device) and driven simulating normal driving conditions (highway and city).

This program is completely voluntary. Qualified vehicles will be selected on a random basis. Suzuki will give owners whose vehicles are selected the following:
$500 cash upon completion.
Free use of a late model loan vehicle with unlimited miles while participating in the program. The vehicle will have a full tank of fuel when delivered.
Your vehicle will be washed, vacuumed, and have a full tank of fuel when the vehicle is returned to you,
Convenient exchange of vehicles at home, place of business, or at the test facility.

The normal program length is about 1 to 2 weeks. However, occasionally it may extend longer. Your vehicle will be safeguarded and fully insured by Roush Industries. If you have any further questions....."

Are you going to do it? I don't know if $500 is worth the risk to me

I would be afraid of CVT damage from the dyno run. The $500 will not go very far if your CVT gets damaged.
Also your car being cleaned before returning it to you might just be running to through the feared " Tunnel of Swirls".

Its strange that Suzuki would want to do this test.

For me the answer would be NO.

Is it really from American Suzuki Motor Corporation? I just have a hard time understanding why a company that went bankrupt and its parent corporation abandon the NA market would care for emissions testing unless they were getting sued by the EPA or something.

The perks are enticing, but I'd personally turn it down given the duration of the testing and the fact that you don't exactly know what they are doing and how it will affect the car's long term durability.

Not worried about CVT because I have a manual transmission but running the car on a dyno possibly steady for two weeks, not worth it. Added miles on odometer = less warranty and will the dyno wear down the tires? Worker racing around with car in transport or getting lunch, these guys work for Roush. My brother-in-law worked there adding turbo's to experimental factory cars. I think he built the experimental 4 cylinder turbo Mustang that was the prototype for the SVO Mustang & Taurus. He has a very heavy foot.

I think this has to be Roush wanting to examine the Kizashi platform for some reason. They must be interested in seeing what else can be done to the car power-wise. I could see them wanting to do this now that the cars are cheaper than a Civic if they have modding potential.

I don't think they'd have the car on a dyno for 2 weeks. I think they are just trying to reverse engineer all the fuel and power mappings for the car to gather data for a new product.

Suzuki may have sub-contracted this work to Roush, but it's strange as to why. Unless the DOT or FVMSS got onto them for something major.
