114 days; Part II

Anything related to the Kizashi can go here, but please look at the other headings first. Your topic may fit better under something else.

So Monday after I got my tires balanced / rotated my heat/AC blower failed.
It's the first 'issue' I've had with my Kizashis.

Probably the thyristor. BFD, $164 plus labor. But they had to order the part.......

And Tuesday 6/28/19, 61,395 miles I had the trans fluid changed.
The whine is gone!

Interesting, never heard of the blower motor failing in these cars. I think it's a simple drop and replace under the dash.

It's not the blower; it's a fairly common Suzuki issue (SX4), where the controller --'thyristor'-- fails.

So new fluid cured the whine aye? Interesting. Did they replace any of the filters or was it stricty fluid flush/purge? Any chemicals involved in the flush such as BG or others?

....details man!

Ding dong! The whine is dead!

I know, because I tried to make it whine (he wrote while grinning devilishly). I tried really hard to make it whine. I drove it up long steep dirt roads with the VSC disabled so I could keep all four tires spinning (madly).
I hammered it through corners, again with the madly-spinning thing.
I really tried.
The whine is dead.

They dropped the fluid, and gently-pressured pumped in new.

OK then, this sounds as though it is worth doing as I'd done in the past w/ several conventional autos over the years. 60k is the recommended interval for most auto trans flushes, so, your timing is spot on, and, you've apparently reaped the benefits. No whine is a good thing. This would once again seem to prove that conventional wisdom dictates preventative maintenance trumps the manufacturer's 'no service interval' (for the CVT) up to the point in time (100k) that the warranty is no longer valid. I have another 9k or so to go before I hit 60k. It whines now.

What brand of fluid did your ex-zuk dealer use? Suzuki or other? What did they charge you for the service?

thanks.

I have no idea what they used.

It cost $177 (I got 20% off).

Any way you could find out what they used, and how much of it they used? That price, even before the discount, seems very low given I know how much fluid a flush can consume AND the cost of a quart of the zuk branded fluid.

Been looking into alternative fluids and came across the following which specifically mentions Suzuki and the Jatco CVTs:
