Last tank Mobil premium = 27.2 MPG; not bad.


So this thing still has way more cornering capability than my skills can utilize. I'm currently at "+30 MPH" on warning-marked curves (you know, the yellow sign with the maximum suggested speed) and I STILL can't get the tires to howl.
There's something spooky about heading into a corner marked "30" at 60........but the K tracks my chosen line without deviation or drama. Like I said, spooky.

I find myself hammering the throttle going downhill.

I like this one better.


But: On dirt roads the 235/45 18's are just too wide, and they've scared me a few times on marbly surfaces when they've broken away without warning.
I'm looking at a set of Kosei K8R's in 17X8 (weight = 16lb!) with some either 215/55 R17's or 225/50's.
But they'll come with mounted Goodyear studded snows......(225/55 R17)

I'm curious, why premium? There's no benefit, MPG or performance wise. I drive mine like I stole it and see 29-30 mpg average constantly on 87. Granted I use top tier fuel only (Valero), but there really is no need for premium unlead for our na 2.4s. I bet you'd see better MPG numbers with 87.

Got a new battery today. At an oil change a few days ago mine tested at 182 cc on the 700cc :x

Never noticed anything till that night, the dash info screen and a/c LEDs were flickering bad at idle and braking.
Installed an advance auto parts autocraft AGM battery...flickering gone with the sluggish startups.

Cool that the Solus XCs are so grippy for GT tires. Any comments on road noise?

Since my normal driving is often full-throttle, I use premium (last tank Mobil premium = 25.5 MPG) to reduce knock.
I've found experimenting with both brands and grades can also produce significant improvements in mileage.
In addition, Mobil's use of Chevron's Techtroline (more concentrated in their premium) IME extends both spark plug and catalytic converter life.

Your results may vary.

There is now just the weeist bit of howl present when pushing the car really hard.

Road noise is minimal; very impressed overall (except they're heavy).

I'm pretty much WOT everyday and never have experienced any knock. Modern engines are equipped with knock sensors that will detect the beginnings of this knocking, and retard the ignition timing to eliminate it. If your Kizashi is knocking, then there's something wrong that needs to be looked at. But a top tier 87 will do the job perfectly and will not knock, and as I said, will yield you better MPG numbers and save your wallet.

Testing for 188,352 miles in Kizashis :drive: .......I appreciate your thoughts, but my personal experience differs.
