General Questions From New Owner

Just purchased 2012 Kizashi GTS Sport AWD, 50K from former dealer who still has active service department. WONDERFUL CAR built like a TANK ! Handles just like prior German autos but without the electrical gremlins they had. The dealer advises 5W-30 synthetic blend and 5K changes, the CVT fluid looks green with some slight particulate specks which tells me it needs flushed. The head of service told me the CVT is " sealed " and they would have to "crack the case " to drain the fluid, that sounds like my old Honda SL 125, not the Jatco JF011E tranny !
My concern is that the car is still under the powertrain warranty, I wonder if a high end independent shop flushing and changing filters could void that warranty ? Does anyone have any experience with that ?
THANKS in advance for any help..

If it has a dipstick it isn't sealed. I'm no expert but as long as you use the proper fluid I don't see how it could void your warranty. To be honest I seriously doubt you'll need the warranty, (not that you'd want to void it). My CVT is still smooth as silk at 110k.

Congrats and welcome to the family!
The Kizashi uses a Jatco JF011E, which is used in many applications like the Mitsu Outlander, Nissan Sentra, Jeep Patriot, etc.
Yes you can drain and fill the CVT. The housing does not have to be opened to do it. Just search for JATCO JF011E fluid change.

228,445 Kizashimiles and counting.......
My Suzuki dealer uses 5W/20 in mine; I change it every 7--11K.
My Suzuki dealer is the only one to service my Kizashis ever (except tire and brake stuff I do here at the dealership I work at).
I would most highly recommend having only a (prior?) Suzuki dealership service your CVT.

Thanks everyone for the advice, here in Pittsburgh area I found Shorkey Auto Group that still has a very active service dept. They told me they routinely flush CVT's , not so sure about the other dealer?
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
