Sure. Mainly it's the additive package in the coolant. Most coolant bases are the same (ethylene glycol, etc.), but the additive package different manufacturers use are specific to the vendors' radiators and the engine block and hoses.bootymac wrote:Can you elaborate? I saw premature corrosion on radiators (we didn't cover this under warranty), electrolysis issue (again not covered), as well as engine temperature issues (for cars with very specific thermostats).
Savings with going with some other coolant--maybe $30-$40. Cost of the trouble--hundreds. Not worth it imo.
I even started using genuine Honda coolant in my 94 Accord after I had that business. I learned a lot!
