Did another relearn a couple of days ago and haven't hear a peep yet. I hope I didn't just jinx it too...

No issues with the TPMS after that re-learn. Don't know why it took a few tries. The only guess I have is that the sensors were going into deep sleep since they were in storage for so long. And if this is the case, I can expect to have similar issues this summer when I put the summer meats on again.

Had a strange thing happen a few weeks back on a drive from MKE to HSV. All of a sudden the tpms system light comes on. At first I thought it was a tire that was low, but it was a system issue. I thought, oh well, I'll re-learn the sensors the next time I stop for gas.

Then about an hour later, it went back to normal. Lights off, tpms functioning propertly.

So the system triggered a fault for only a hour then self cleared and now working again for a couple weeks?

Wow, interesting tread, I think I struck gold.

I just changed tires on new rims with new sensors yesterday, and I tried to put the car in learning mode, I was unsuccessful after a lot of tries with a lot of different combination based on everything I have found on the web. I still drove it and eventually (after aprox 15 mins and 11 miles driving I got the annoying "service TPMS" message on the IP cluster. I tried agai n to go into learning mode but because I have the tpms message with the yellow tire blinking and also the yellow exclamation triangle blinking, I cannot see if the attempt was successful.

When you get it into learning mode, is it in ACC or RUN (ON without engine running)?
Do you have the driver door closed or open when pressing the ignition button?
As rapid flashing of the TPMS signal, what do you mean as "fast flashing"? twice per second, 3 times poer second?
As "tmps signal", you mean the yellow tire or the yellow exclamation triangle?

Thanks guys

Yes you have. You'll be able to do this as I have without any dealership. 8-)

Procedure for getting the car into relearn mode:
1) Inflate tires to pressure on door frame placard
2) Turn ignition ON
3) Press driver’s door frame switch for interior light for 4 seconds and release
4) Press switch again for 4 seconds and release
5) Press switch again for 7 seconds and release
6) If successful the TPMS symbol next to the speedometer needle will begin blinking in a series of two quick flashes. The yellow exclamation point (!) light will go out if the "Service TPMS" message was previously displayed.
7) Quickly scan the LF, RF, RR, LR wheels in that order.
8) After last scan the TPMS symbol will stay on for 5 seconds and then go off

This was a copy from another forum user's post. I can't seem to find the instructions I posted right out of the service manual. :(

So to answer your question, it is the 'on' mode as listed in step 2. Just be sure your foot is not on the brake or you'll start the car and have to start over again.

All doors need to be closed.

At the start of relearn mode, it will flash just about once per second. Once you register a sensor, the light will flash quickly the number of sensors left. So if it's flashing once a second, then you trigger a sensor, it will have three quick flashes in a second, then another three quick flashes in a second. Each time you register another sensor, it counts down. So it will be two flashes in a second once you have two sensors registered, etc.

I'm not sure what your question is about tpms signal. If you can post a link to the original post, I'll re-read it and see if I can make any sense of it for you. If you mean tpms symbol, it's the triangle.

Good luck and definitely reply back. I'm always happy to help someone else get their tpms relearned. 8-)

Your pressing the wrong button instead of the start button press the button inside the drivers door jam, so you will need the drivers door open.

Still unsuccessful at putting it into learning mode.
This is what I am doing:

1) Open driver door, get into car, have fob in pocket
2) Close driver door, parking brake engaged, shifter in 1st gear (this is a MT car)
3) Press start button twice to get it into RUN (ON) without pressing the brake.
4) Open driver door
5) Press driver door jamb switch for 4 seconds, release
6) Press driver door jamb switch for another 4 seconds, release
7) Press driver door jamb switch for 7 seconds, release

Still not in learning mode. The TPMS telltale (yellow tire symbol next to the speedometer needle) flashes at aprox once per second, which does anyway without trying to get into learning mode as the "service TPMS" message already came into the message center.

Will give it another try tomorrow trying with the shifter in neutral.
Thanks guys!

I havent tried to help anyone with getting a manual car into relearn mode, so the following may not help.

Are you depressing the clutch?

I think the first press of the drivers side door switch must occur within 2 seconds.

You will know if you're in relearn mode because all the tpms warnings will turn off and the only thing left will be the flashing triangle.
