Kizashi Club

Hi guys,

I just made a deal to buy a new 2012 Black Kizashi Sport this week. I'm rolling the dice on this...hoping that I am making a good investment.

Time will tell.

Welcome and enjoy. As you can see form this forum Kizashi owners are spread far & wide. Can I ask where are you from?

Welcome! It's likely you scored the Kizashi for a good price so it's already a decent investment in terms of value. There aren't many major problems but there are some to be aware of:

1. Factory alignment is out of spec and will quickly wear tires out.

2. Rear shocks can fail due to poorly designed bump stops. There's a TSB for vehicles under warranty.

3. Some members have been experiencing CVT failures... Something to be aware of.

I was going to write this but you beat me to it.

I'd also add that some paint colors are prone to chipping easily. They appear to be the darker colors like Black, Red, and Blue.

And don't forget about the spiders that live in the vent tube getting high on gas vapors. Hoping to take in my Kizashi to get that fixed this week.

Welcome SoulSurgeon! I suspect you made a great investment. I picked up my 2010 Kizashi S brand new for about half the price of the other cars I was looking at. It took almost three months negotiating with the dealer to get the price down plus a few extras thrown in. Floor mats, stock wheels & after market wheels and he paid for the license plates.

I have not had a problem with this Japanese built vehicle. I feel confident in the build quality of this car. Plan to drive it until the wheels fall off then put the wheels back on and go some more.

Belated welcome! It's a great investment if you buy it cheap, which it sounds like you did.

Sry for me to take so long to get back to you on this..I just remember I had joined this site!

My Kizashi is 97,300 km on it of 100k warranty. Had recall work done on it today. 4098 shift lever replacement.

The alignment..yeah? Seems to pull to the left a lot eh? Should I take it in and get it done again? I had it done when I bought the car.

TSB on rear shocks? Should I take mine if for that? Link?

Mine is CVT and Black lol. Great.

LOVE the car so far...turns lots of heads...more nicely appointed and more comfortable to drive than my bosses Audi A5. Honestly.

The alignment seems to be something you'll be fiddling with almost forever. You'll need a good alignment shop to dial it in, and then take it back to that shop when it gets bad again. Luckily, I know someone who has his own alignment rack at home and will set up any type of alignment you need, so I'll probably use him. But to be honest, I've never aligned any of my cars, so it may not be worth the hassle for me.

The TSB on the rear shocks is a must because of how hard the rear shocks themselves are to get if they end up failing down the road. Especially with it under warranty.
