Swift GTi's have been available in Australia since around 1986 (from memory?).... VW decides to contest the naming in 2004?!

Here's the Indonesian site for Suzuki on the Swift Sport's page.
The Swift Sport is a great little car and is probably the most acclaimed car that Suzuki makes. Suzuki not offering it in the US was probably a misstep they took that contributed to their downfall given the rising popularity of rivals like the Mini and Honda Fit.
Suzuki engineers need a pat on the back. Suzuki management needs a bitch slap.

Sadly, there are "hotter" hatchbacks out there, but it still gets good reviews locally. Long term it would certainly be the reliable choice over the Euro brands.

The Swift is what the original golf was, today. It is the most chuck-able, fun to drive, reliable, no-nonsense hatch that money can buy.
Sure there are "hotter hatches" but I for one, am bored of hatchbacks being priced higher and loaded with tech just so they can go faster round a track. A hot hatch is not supposed to be the second car a husband/father owns to have fun, a hot hatch is supposed to be a cheap thrill, something students love, something with great aftermarket support, something with not much to go wrong, something like the suzuki swift :)
