Is there any high performance package for Kizashi?
I think they're saying that the torque curve does not jive with what the CVT is doing. Every time is starts really putting out, the CVT shifts.

Can't you change "gears" manually? Turbo engines are normally operating at their peak power at higher revs- where the CVT should benefit under full throttle.
Edit: this video might give another clue as to why there's no CVT kit - the intercooler sits right where the OEM CVT cooler is.

How does that happen? When I get into my CVT, the rpms stay way up (4000-5500) and stay there until I get out of it. How could a turbo not help with torque and HP in that RPM range? Doesn't make sense to me. It's almost like a turbo would do better with the CVT than an manual as you can hold it at just about any RPM you want. You can't do that with a manual.Woodie wrote:I think they're saying that the torque curve does not jive with what the CVT is doing. Every time is starts really putting out, the CVT shifts.

I'd still like to know why the CVT is de-tuned to 5 HP less than the manual. Anyone have any ideas other than input shaft HP on the CVT vs. the manual?

I've been kicking myself ever since I let that GTS on Carmax slip away and haven't seen a low-mileage 2011-2013 manual since. Living in Miami now, there's really not a whole lot of other factors to keep driving interesting other than rowing your own.
I am also in the market for a manual Kizashi, but I don't want to settle for the bare-bones "S" model that's a 2013. According to the US Kizashi Specs Comparison Year to Year thread, you can get a manual SLS Kizashi, but only for the 2010 model year.
I'm going to be keeping my eyes peeled for one to crop up on the internet somewhere.

JUST KIDDING! I redact my previous comment.KuroNekko wrote:That's not true. Members here have '11 and '12 SLS models with manuals. A '11 and '12 SLS would be the Kizashi Sport and arguably better than a 2010 non-Sport model.
I missed KuroNekko's post in the thread I mentioned above. It's good to know that there's still yet hope that I may be able to acquire a Kizashi with a manual transmission AND backup assistance.

Okay, that makes sense, hadn't really thought that out very much. My experience with a CVT is about one minute. I test drove a CVT before I bought the Kizashi and decided as I turned out of the dealer lot onto the main road that there was no way I could drive a car with a box full of rubber bands between the engine and the wheels. Went literally one square block.LPSISRL wrote:How does that happen? When I get into my CVT, the rpms stay way up (4000-5500) and stay there until I get out of it. There are few things on Earth that are worse than an automatic transmission, CVT is one of those.

You'd probably find that power rating @ flywheel
Thus the cvt absorbs about 5hp in use.
There are a lot of similar parts between the sx4 j20b setup and the kizashi j24b.
I'm looking into fitting an sx4 awd manual system in place of the cvt, a lot of parts match up..

WOW! I didn't know Suzuki made AWD systems mated to a 5MT in the SX4 as late as 2009. I don't know why they didn't put those in the AWD versions of the S and SE Kizashies in 2010, and leave the 6MT/CVT in the GTS/SLS. They probably would have saved a butt-ton of money on the models that they were going to sell the most of. Of course they were trying to hype up the new AWD system they made just for the Kizashi; maybe 5MT couldn't handle the power of the J24B or the shwanky new AWD system in the Kizashi.Bewitched GTi wrote:There are a lot of similar parts between the sx4 j20b setup and the kizashi j24b.

Do you know where you're going to get this drive train from. A quick glance at CarGurus.com and it seems like it's almost as hard to find a MT+AWD SX4 as it is to find a 6MT Sport SLS.
