It's bullcrap

Claims to modify the signals being sent to your computer. First problem is; the sensor signals being sent to your computer are not sent through the OBD2 port, so plugging this thing in to your OBD2 port does not put it into the signal path. Second problem is; you can modify the sensor signals (you're lying to your engine control computer now) and fool it into providing more performance or more mileage (one or the other, they're opposites). What this does to emissions and reliability is completely up in the air.

It's pretty common for guys to put a resistor in the sensor line for Intake Air Temp or Coolant Temp and get good results of more power or more mileage. This can be done for about ten cents if you really feel brave. One way fools it into running the engine lean, causing much higher cylinder head temperatures increasing NOx emissions and burning exhaust valves. The other way makes it run rich, increasing Unburned Hydrocarbon emissions, washing the oil off the cylinder walls, and poisoning your catalytic converter. The factory engineers spend millions testing different settings and deciding what is the best balance between power, mileage, emissions, and longevity until they finally settle down to a good compromise. If they could just tweak something a little and get a favorable result, they would have done it and gotten better numbers already.

I think Woodie is right. With that said, there is something like what I did with my SX4 which was I had the ECU reprogrammed to smooth out the air/fuel mixture curve. I did get a little more pep, fuel mileage was unchanged and my wallet was about $500 lighter. I justified it on better mileage claims that would have paid for it over several years time. It didn't quite work out that way.

That depends on the engine and country the vehicle is sold in. Australian vehicles are notorious for the manufacturers detuning the power outputs to allow for the worst conditions ie. an owner who drives in the hottest conditions and uses the lowest quality fuel. If you can find a decent tuner, they can adjust your timing (and possibly open loop mixtures) to regain the lost power and torque - of course you will need to then use higher octane fuel.

I've had really good (dyno proven) results with two previous NA vehicles.

You can reprogram the ECU via the OBDII port (ie. upload new software); but as Woodie said modifying the signal on the fly is a very dubious claim....

I'll take two!

I think the Kizashi is pretty well tuned from the factory. Almost every single mod has been dyno proven to lose power vs gain. And at what cost of reliability? That's what I worry about. Give me a mod that's more reliable and improves performance--those are the only ones I'm inteersted in.
