Our rear left shock was leaking oil after 50k miles so I went ahead and replaced both with KYB 349141 Excel-G (made in Japan) for ~$45 each from RockAuto. Sounds like the Venue is perfect for your needs. I'm a sucker for hatchbacks so the Venue had caught my eye, but I wish it was a little more upscale.
