Re: CVT - what is the recommended preventative work on it?

The original recommendation was for no service. When they started failing as if they were made out of glass, the recommended service was changed to 30,000 miles. Sounds as if that place flat out stole from you, it would be the last time I set foot in the place. There's a member here named Old Tech w...

Re: CVT First service in 100kms (62k miles)

The CVT is designed to deliver good fuel economy when driven the exact way that the government fuel economy test is driven. Sounds as if you've found that sweet spot driving 3000-3500 rpm. IN EVERY other way, a CVT is a disaster. They rob performance, mileage, and reliability. The entire first half ...

Welcome Sachin !

Most important thing to check is that it has a clutch pedal, you seem to have that under control. If it's right hand drive there was a problem with the clutch pedal box cracking.

Re: Trunk Latch Replacement

Recently, my trunk latch failed. I had the trunk open at the time and recall that I might have unintentionally locked the car doors while the trunk was open. While that normally does not affect the latch, it appeared to fail to work properly since then. I think this is pure coincidence, I do this m...

Re: Help! Locked out of car 600 miles from home; replaced key fob battery but still can't unlock the car

The mechanical lock is often stuck after thirteen years of sitting in one spot. You might try shooting some WD-40 into the lock and then try the key again. Best practice is to use the key on the lock once a year to keep it exercised.

Re: Vehicle lost power then crank but no start

Welcome Shogren ! Cranking over fast with no attempt to fire up makes me thing of the timing chain or something to do with that system. Open up the oil fill cap and watch the cam lobes as you crank it over on the starter. If the cam isn't turning then you've got a timing chain problem. Those two cod...

Welcome Sparky !

What part of Maryland? I'm in Laurel.

Have any idea what you want for it? If it was a manual transmission I'd be at the bank now getting cash.

Re: Advice on Serpentine Belt/Tensioner?

Search feature on here sucks. Old Tech posted a response as I spent half an hour trying to find his cheap fix post.
