The battery should be 13.5 volts. Also, did you check the drop when you were trying to start it? You might find that it drops to 8 volts or below when you try to crank it.

I don’t suppose you could settle with the insurance company by them paying you that amount plus letting you keep your car . I can't imagine the work involved. I don't think any shop would touch it. My wife certainly wouldn't let me drive it around with no air bags. Although the passenger side air bag did not deploy.

Thanks for this. It will be helpful when the insurance company calls me. Mine was totaled on Sunday by a guy who ran a red light and I couldn't stop.
