Update:
I've now driven about 1000 miles since the new MAF sensor was installed. No issues at all and I'm getting expected fuel economy. Last week, I drove 350 miles round trip for a conference, driving through crawling Los Angeles freeway traffic at times with temps over 100F. The engine performed flawlessly.
I'm now confident to say the Denso #197-6160 is a perfect replacement part for the OE MAF sensor for a fraction of the cost.
