I've almost done 2000km in my 6 speed manual Kizashi which is a about 1200miles and fuel consumption is a very steady 9 litres per 100km or US 26mpg.

The only highway driving i do is 30mins to my girlfriends house once or twice a week.
26mpg is much better than my last car that was only getting 18mpg.

I have a feeling when i get my short ram intake i'll probably get worse fuel consumption 8-)

When I was making daily 40-mile one way trips over an Interstate I averaged about 24 mpg. Now that I drive shorter distances (16 miles one way, with frequent traffic) I get about 22 mpg. The car has 11k miles on it now. FWD. CVT.

This is caldculated mpg, the dash is 1-2 mpg optimistic.

I had an oil change, and maybe just more miles and break in? I still think 21-22 is low for a 4cyl. I am sure I would easily get upper 20's low 30's on the hwy, but I don't do much hwy driving.

It's probably a little low, but it's a lot better than you were getting before.

Took a nice 3 hour highway jaunt yesterday right after leaving work. Reset the Average MPG and Average Speed displays before taking off and upon returning home they read 31.6 mpg and 61 mph (forgot to reset trip meter). Mixed bag of auto and manual mode mostly auto on the long stretches, manual for slowing down and changing interstates, ramps etc. (gotta have some fun right?). My driving style was not geared towards achieving maximum fuel efficiency in any way....just driving and enjoying the car. I'm pretty pleased with that for only having 625 miles on the clock. (with the exception of the damn volume jumping all over the place on the Rockford).

My daily commute is mostly rural and hilly and I was averaging a calculated 28.3 for a couple of months (cvt sls awd). Now with the weather changing for the worse, getting colder, Im getting around 26ish. I"m not sure if they change the fuel formulation anymore since there is already 10% ethanol in it but that never helped. My last to cars have always lost 3-4mpg in the winter though.

I'll report on my first tank

2010 Kizashi S MT.
Trip meter: 408.1 miles
Tank filled: 13.685 gal
Calculated average: 29.82 mpg.
Average reported (trip computer): 31.55 mpg

I am siding with the trip computer as I got the tank "full" from the dealer, and I don't know how "full" the tank was. Before resetting the average speed and mpg, they were at 18 mpg and 15 mph. This tank was the initial 300+ miles leg to take the car home, so mostly highway miles. However, I drove it far from conservative. I was doing 90+ at some times (the car reaches 90 mph with no effort at all, and it feels waaay slower than what you are doing in reality) I also made sure to keep the engine busy, and in several stretches doing 75-80 mph I would downshift to 5th, giving the engine a nice 4000 rpm workout. I also stopped at several places, and even so, the trip computer averaged the initial trip home at 33.7 mpg (average speed reported: 75 mph, including 2 rest stops and 3 stops in urban driving :o) Before my first stop the trip computer was reporting 36 mpg :D

The other 108 miles were going to work, 17 miles each way, 5 miles semirural (50-60 mph, 2 stop lights) and 5 miles of city driving that have a "nice" stretch of 5 stop lights perfectly syncronized to make sure you stop at each of them

On my second tank, the trip computer is reporting 27 mpg, with even more stops. I am expecting it to be close to 26 mpg real. I used to have a 39+ miles each way commute, but got an internal transfer to a closer location. City miles driving are very similar (5 now, 6 before), the semi-rural driving did not change, but my highway miles are lower by a good amount.

I'll report on the second tank.

Just got mine and haven't had a chance to do a full tank, but according to the readout i have mine sitting at 33.2 Right now. I reset the display when i picked the car up from the dealer. I have put approx 120 miles on it so far. Mine is a AWS "S" CVT. It responds very well to some basic hypermiling techniques. Once i get it broken in and i become more familiar with it, i am going to shoot for a 40MPG tank. Should be interesting.
