If you're looking at buying double DIN I've noticed advertising recently for some units that interface with your smart phone. (You can run apps that are loaded on your phone from the head unit display.)
Sounds like a good idea to me as I use my phone for a GPS; with all the other applications that are available the limits are endless.

Do you mind sharing a link where you purchased your unit. I am in the market for something similar...I was looking at ebay and there are some options like yours but not sure if they are the same.
See the first post in this thread for the link. ;)

(and it's Minority not Minotrity  )

For anyone interested the part number for the genuine Suzuki double DIN fascia is 73330-57L00-ZNF

A quick Google shows up this GARNISH TRIM 73330-57L00-ZNF $89.95 http://viewitem.eim.ebay.ru/20112013-SU ... en-US.html

It's also shown here as a genuine accessory- so should be available locally or from USA suppliers? http://www.suzukiauto.com.na/pdf/access ... ochure.pdf

http://en.gforceparts.com/parts/all/432 $73.07 on this page

This place does international delivery and prices it at 85 Euros http://eshop.original-teile.de/index.ph ... 3057L00ZNF

For anyone interested, the "factory" location for mounting the GPS antenna is under the dash centre speaker cover. You trim the ground plane down to fit in next to the speaker moulding and drop the antenna cable through the dash cutout. Or, if you're not interested in using the centre speaker, remove it and use the speaker screws to hold the ground plane and place the GPS antenna where the speaker was fitted. ;)

There is also a microphone location within the front overhead light assembly, once again it's the factory location so should work well. You run the microphone cable through the roof lining and then down the front LHS windscreen A pillar, behind the glovebox and to the head unit.

But if you remove the center speaker you should use aftermarket door speakers because center is wired in parallel with them using 2 voice coils. The resistance on the radio from the door speakers will be increased thus reducing output.
Make sure you know what you are talking about before you tell people to rip parts out of their car.

Yes, the centre speaker has twin voice coils from the left and right front channels; and is wired in parallel with the both the left and right front door speakers. The factory front door speakers (woofers) are 4 Ohms impedance- as are most aftermarket car speakers.

Each to their own as far as removing the centre speaker. Remember this topic is about after market head units, not the factory system.

Any speaker's impedance will vary depending on the frequency of the signal being fed into it. It's purely an average value. So most head units will happily cope with load fluctuations.

The factory head unit (talking non RF, Panasonic manufactured head unit) is unable to supply enough power (voltage and current.) If you fit a different (decent) head unit to your vehicle you will quickly notice the difference. (Centre speaker fitted or not.)

(PS: Resistance is actually a DC term- speaker signals are not DC. The correct term is Impedance.)

I know this is an older topic, but you can find this on Parts.com (for cheaper than above)
