You probably have about the same traffic as I do, maybe more as my site is just regional.

I've had some issues with people manually trying to hack user passwords to get access to accounts. The spam business is ridiculous.

My site isn't even as big as this one since I'm just regional. But still a good option to consider.

^ that is the other reason I have banned entire countries.

I've banned certain countries, but since I somehow meet people from all over the world, I need to keep their ability to register open. Kind of a good problem in a way.
