Ethanol is a solvent and doesn't "gum" anything up. The main issues with ethanol (aside from lower energy content) is its solvent and water absorption qualities. However, any modern vehicle's fuel system can handle E10 blends and I've had vehicles sit for months with E10 without any issues.
Point is, E10 isn't as bad as it sounds and I definitely wouldn't pay more or go out of my way to avoid it.

I went back to the station that has the Ethenol free...it was $.70 more per gallon. I am going to give it a try, run a few full tanks, just to see how she does (not that I am going to switch with these prices, but I am curious to see how much better it does). I'll be able to tell next week when I drive about 400 miles on Monday...mostly highway. I have been driving this trip for a few months now, getting about 30-31 for a round trip. This should be a pretty good gauge on how much different it is since I will be on my 2nd full fill up so, most of the old gas should be out of the tank...

no longer will I be able to use 87 any more .... 91 and up only from here on out for me

Took the car down to E twice, and filled with the 91 Ethanol Free...absolutely no change...hit about 30 mpg down and back...primarily all highway. In fact...it almost seemed to be slightly worse...

I average 32 on 87 with e10 going 80+ on a 2000 mile journey and that's from full tank to slap empty. Stop three time to fill up I love this car for that

You are also driving the manual with about 300 less pounds on it...I think if I was on the highway for a similar trip, I would probably do 30 from full to empty.
