I also made a mount but use a tie wrap (zip tie) to attach the mount to the rear view mirror. My camera will travel from horizontal and tip to one side or the other. I have to move it back about every 1k miles. I also like the use of velcro to attach the camera to the mount. I think I may duplicate your mount if your camera is stable. Otherwise I'll rezip-tie my mount to the mirror mount with a piece or rubber between the tie & mirror mount.
I've actually just made a new mount (that does away with the velcro/ clip) and uses screws to attach to the mirror arm (via a saddle type clamp) along with a tripod mount screw (1/4" - 20 UNC) to attach the Mobius. The previous version did use a spring clip type fitting- I was a bit concerned that either the clip or the velcro would "break away" in an accident, hence the new mount. BTW the Mobius only weighs something like 30gm so chances are it would be fine.

I haven't taken any pics of it yet, but there's a piece of metal strap (approx 25mm width) bent like a saddle clamp to fit over the mirror arm. I've tapped holes into it for machine screws to screw into and they hold a small piece of rectangular perspex to it. The clamp is rubber lined and thus holds the perspex tightly to the mirror arm. I've then tapped another hole into the perspex (further towards the windscreen) and put a tripod mount sized machine screw through it for the Mobius to bolt to. It's a lot firmer and should be secure in an accident.

I can adjust the camera angle up/down via the mirror arm adjustment (it's got a ball joint at both the windscreen and back of the mirror) and can adjust left/ right via the tripod screw.

It took awhile but I finally took a picture of my mount.

I'm still bummed that I saved the wrong clip from my dash cam of when I was at Penn State and a Kizashi was in each lane of the road. A silver one parking, my black one, and a white one to my right. After I parked, I tried to save the clip but mistakenly saved the wrong one. Sigh.

"Deer comes thru windshield" is more likely.

A rare occurrence indeed!

Nearly got T-boned at an intersection yesterday on my way home in Washington, DC by a vehicle running a red light.
This is why I have a dash camera.

Holy shit!

You actually convinced me to buy a dashcam and I'm very glad I did. It (A118C) has already captured many close calls and I feel better "protected" with the camera. Highly recommended for those that don't have it already. Cheap insurance for $100!

The raw footage is very useful, but when the footage files are used in a special player like the Registrator Viewer (freeware), it's even more powerful. The viewer has the ability to sync the video with GPS data for GPS-enabled dash cameras. It gives a map of where you were and the route taken. It also displays speed. The viewer also features modes like video playback speed adjustments and zoom. I used both of these features to actually read the license plate of the Mazda that nearly hit me in the video above. It's really a powerful tool if you ever had to make an insurance claim or take something to court.
Here's the link to the Registrator Viewer:
