I've talked about it for a while so I'm finally getting around to it. I'm going to post the photos I took at the various museums I visited when I was in Japan last winter. They will include photos of vintage Japanese cars from the Toyota Automobile Museum, photos of automotive development and manufacturing from the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, and photos from the Kawasaki Good Times Museum.
Given the number of photos I have, I will upload a few photos at a time and keep adding to it periodically. This will keep the thread fresh and interesting while giving me more time to add the photos.
What better car to start than the beloved Toyota 2000GT? This car is now fetching over 1 million dollars in auctions. It's the most valuable Japanese car given its limited production of only 351 cars.

I remember my dad taking me out to see one of these brand new around 1970 at a dealer in Washington state. As I recall the showroom was just big enough for one car, and very nondesript outside. Of course, after seeing the 2000gt, i can't remember any of the other cars that would have been on the lot! Showing my age here...
Yup, they had a 1967 Toyota Century.Fritz2 wrote:By the way, thinking about the Toyota Century that with a V12 that they might have in the museum, have you seen the Porsche 928 with the Toyota V12 transplant on dailyturismo's website. Its awesome!

Thanks for the Century photo! Just saw a photo of a beauty like this, slightly lowered with BBS style mesh pattern wheels in the May issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic, with a fantastic step front Crown wagon behind it. Page 10, if you're in a hurry at Barnes & Noble!

Believe it or not, this car is the ancestor of the Nissan Altima.

Fascinating pictures! The Flying Feather looks like an updated european cyclecar from the 20s to 30s. The Fuji reminds me of a Peel microcar. The Bluebird has a lot of nice detailing- the chrome side trim & script, the nice grill, the fancy badge, the hidden antenna. Must have been a top of the line version.
