Also, in comparison, there is hardly anyway I can break my manual transmission in the snow. I also had an automatic Subaru Impreza with 225,000 miles that saw heavy duty snow in a mountain climate. It never once presented a problem.
Again, I'm not saying all CVTs are invariably junk. I'm merely saying CVTs in general have presented more problems than other transmission offerings. Go look at the articles I linked a few posts back. Those are known problems from three different manufacturers.
It's only logical to have reservations about the reliability of these CVTs when they are having problems and many of them aren't even in high mileage like 200,000 miles. It can only get worse at higher mileage.
