Non-RF Sound System USB Issue

The current usb that is not working is a pny 16g flash drive. Yes it works in winxp and I copied MP3s to it(about 8 in 2 folders). The file plays for about 1sec. Then i get 'Error 1'. The 8g I gave up on. I agree that USB sticks should be the same, but I don't believe they are. What are your thoughts?

I had a 4 gig mp3 player that would play about a half song then would go into error mode and would virtually shut down my kenwood headunit. So I purchased an Apple Ipod touch and I never had that problem again.

Thanks for the input. I found a sandisk 16g at Walmart for $15. It looks like the verbatim store-n-stay(really small). It said on the packaging, for .....'car audio'. It actually works great.Thanks for all the info I found on this forum! PS... it comes in colors, but black matches my interior.

On a different, yet relatable topic, my USB stick just all of a sudden stopped working...what gives? I've been using an 8 gig EMTEC flash drive for the past few months, no issue at all, then randomly I stop for milk at Dillons, then when I start up the car, its suddenly Unsupported. Now, it still wont work...anyone have this issue? How did you overcome this?

First thing to do would be try a different USB stick. Also try reformatting your non working stick in a PC and see what happens- if it will format it okay or not. Perhaps it's just died suddenly?

I'd try a different USB drive and see what happens. My hunch is that something happened to the USB drive vs the car.
