.....On Saturday, at 152,789 miles, I had another flat.
What's that, a dozen?
Getting repaired now.

lol That's fairly scary when you hit stuff going that fast. I almost hit a couple of ducks last year doing about a buck 20. I though the one was going to go through the windshield. I'm pretty confident the drivers side mirror made slight contact with one duck on the way past.
I'm sure there were "two" rear blow-outs that day.WESHOOT2 wrote:I remember a 1972 'incident' with a '66 Corvair, 105 MPH, and a rear blow-out.....

Nope; same day same car same trip (headed to the Michigan Dunes for a day of drunken high-school ditching) after I'd put the spare on the rear, a front lost air about twenty minutes later.
We pooled our money and bought a used wrong-sized but right-wheel-diameter baldie for $5 and limped (ah, "under 80") the rest of the trip.....

Last night on the Interstate at 72 MPH the repair plug 'exited' the tire (heard it "POP", heard the plug bounce down the side of the car, heard the explosive expulsion of air) and recognized I'd had a blow-out.
Tire destroyed; replacing now.

I assume that the failed tire repair was a plug only type?
If it was maybe a plug & patch combo would be better to be used in the future?
