ur right i misspoke i just knew it wasnt RF, for the nav. As for the rest of the system I'm too too sure so i will defer to your knowledge~tc~ wrote:The nav is sourced from Kenwood, to my knowledge, the rest of it is the same.
That could be a big problem as NOBODY has any Kizashi in stock here in Houston. Mine had to be ordered from California.

I can chime in about the watts. There is actually not TOO much difference between 200 watts, 425 watts and say 800 or even 1000 watts. I forgot the reason, but it was something to do with the scale and how 200 to 400 is not twice the sound. The sound guys could probably chime in with a better explanation. But all in all watts do not mean too much in the grand scheme of thingsHawkzilla wrote: All things considered, I'm happy with my RF system. It doesn't feel like 425 watts, but it's plenty for me and shakes the mirrors enough.
The big problem is that there is no real "standard" for how to measure amplifier power. In the end, all watts cost the same these days as everyone is basically using the same amplifier chips. So a cheap 1000W amp and an expensive 250W amp probably produce the same power in real world situations.
Doubling the power (or doubling the cone area) increases the sound pressure level 3dB since SPL is a logarithmic scale.

Okay, here are the settings I have found to give optimum bass performance without sounding muddy...
PUNCH BASS +6
MID +3
TREBLE +6
FADE REAR +1 (this helps counter any scratchy noise while feeding a bit more power to the bass speakers)
AVC +3
If you set your RF to these numbers, put in a CD or MP3, turn it up to 20, and you can still see from your rear view mirror, I would get your amp checked. With these settings I get very good bass response at all volumes under 23... above 23 and the bass starts to drop out, I assume from too much power going to the mid and treble?
Anyway, give it a try and LMK if it works as well for you.

I'll definitely give it a try as soon as I get my subwoofer fixed.

^^ I generally have the same settings but I never put my punch on +6 ... (I've never had to in fact!) - i don't consuider it safe (for the health of the woofer).
Volume wise I generally have never had to go over 24 or so when cranking it. Again.. i'd consider anything higher not safe for the health of the sound system, regardless of sound quality still being acceptable or not.

I rarely go over 22, but I've had my bass maxed out for optimal response for months now. I bought a new car for a reason... if my woofer goes out Suzuki will be replacing it! You don't advertise a "powerful" Rockford Fosgate system if you aren't willing to back it up.

For me, the difference between 5 & 6 isn't really noticeable, so I keep it jacked cuz that's how I roll.
This convo does bring up a good point about the RF, I really like the quality of sound and bass response I get at any level under 24. With how I have it set now, if I have something playing at 10 it still gets the bass kicking in just enough to compliment the high tones. All in all, once you tinker with your setting enough, I think it's a pretty solid system. When I ride in the spouse's new Sorento, it's like listening to a stereo inside a tin can compared to the quality of sound I get from my Kiz.

I do like the sound of mine.. just don't understand why when I am driving that the sound goes up without me touching the volume and I do not have the automatic volume control on... other then that glitch... sounds really good to me... especially for a stock stereo... but for the sub, yes that could hit harder, that would be nicer...
